Jourdanton ISD has recently acquired the historic Big Chief from Red McCombs. As a school district, we understand the importance of honoring history and preserving the legacy of our community. Big Chief holds a special place in the hearts of many Jourdanton Indians, and we are proud to now own this iconic landmark. We acknowledge the significance of the Big Chief and its cultural importance, and we are committed to ensuring that it remains an integral part of our community for generations to come. As Jourdanton Indians, we take pride in our history and heritage, and we look forward to how this will now be a part of our story.

On Wednesday at the Unequipped Regional Championship Jourdanton had three lifters qualify and compete. Senior Trinity Garcia had an amazing finish to a terrific senior season. Trinity placed 4th amongst the strongest lifters in the State. Sophomore Lizzy Molina had a near perfect meet and pulled an epic 15 lb. deadlift PR to tie for 2nd and qualify for State! Senior Liberty Harlan blew the doors off of the competition earning her the title of the Regional Champion and is heading to State ranked #1. On Thursday in the Equipped Championship meet Jourdanton also had three lifters compete. Senior Sadie Shearrer had a great meet and finished 7th in the region. Senior Miriam Bocanegra broke the longstanding Squat Record in the 165's with an easy 450 lb. attempt. Although Miriam placed 2nd at this meet, she is still ranked 2nd in the State and is within striking distance of the title. This was also Miriam's 4th appearance at the Regional Championship. Junior Bella DeLeon shocked the competition with a PRs in both squat and bench, that absolutely flew. Posting 425 lb. squat, 275 lb. bench and a 350 lb. deadlift: Bella DeLeon is the 181 Regional Champion and ranked #1 going into State. Next Friday the Boy's will lift at their Regional Meet in Kingsville. --
