Mrs. Saunders visited Mrs. Jones’s class yesterday to teach the class how to use library resources for their animal research projects. This preparation comes just in time for our upcoming field trip to the zoo! The kids are already buzzing with excitement and can’t wait to put their new research skills to use. 🐾📚

Mrs. Jones’ students wrote procedural texts explaining how to make an ice cream sundae. On Friday, they followed their directions and made the sundaes! 🍨 It was a fun, hands-on way to practice writing skills and a great way to end our first week back.

P-TECH Application is now open for the 2026-2027 school year for current 8th grade students. The application is due January 30th.

What is a P-TECH?

P-TECH is an acronym for Pathways in Technology Early College High School. In a P-TECH school, students earn a high school diploma, an industry recognized associate degree, and gain relevant work experience in a growing field.

A school is considered a P-TECH if it is designated from the Texas Education Agency, and they have industry partners that align with the campus pathways

Click https://aptg.co/4hXRCc for the application. Hard copies are also available at the JH Office.

Congratulations to all of our outstanding students who competed at the Area tryouts today in Calallen. This level of competition represents some of the finest young musicians in the state of Texas.
Out of the eight students who proudly represented Jourdanton, we are honored to announce that Ian has earned a place in the TMEA-ATSSB All-State Band, marking Jourdanton’s first All-State musician since 2024.
Being selected for the TMEA-ATSSB All-State Band is one of the highest honors a Texas band student can achieve, and Ian will represent our program at the state level this February. This is an exceptional accomplishment and a moment of great pride for our school and community.
Congratulations, Ian, on this remarkable achievement!

Students from the 7th–12th grade Life Skills program recently delivered gifts to the junior high staff as a gesture of appreciation. The activity provided students with an opportunity to practice important life skills such as social interaction, communication, responsibility, and community involvement. The students took pride in sharing kindness and gratitude, and the junior high staff warmly received the gifts. This meaningful experience helped strengthen relationships within the school community while reinforcing positive behavior and real-world skills.

Fifty-one 2nd through 5th graders from Jourdanton Elementary competed at the Winter UIL District Meet in Dilley on December 13th. Over the course of 3 months, the 18 competing teams were coached and guided by elementary staff, often practicing during lunch and after school to hone their skills.

JES took 3rd Place Overall, with 23 students earning top-6 medals in their individual events and 6 teams placing in the top 3. Jourdanton Elementary School is immensely proud of the hard work and dedication shown by the students and their coaches

Due to the rainy weather we had and the field being wet, we’ve decided to cancel our Christmas movie event. While we’re disappointed to miss this time together, we’re truly grateful for the rain here in South Texas. Thank you for understanding, and we look forward to gathering again soon. 🎄🌧️

🐄🌾 Ag Fair Day Fun! 🌾🐖

Our PK–3rd grade students had an amazing time at Ag Fair Day, hosted by our outstanding Ag Department! From seeing pigs, rabbits, lambs, goats, steers, and chickens up close, to cheering on friends during a stick horse race, there was excitement around every corner.

Students also watched a cow being milked and learned how agriculture plays an important role in our world—what a hands-on learning experience!

They also learned how stinky animals can be! ( check out the pictures below )

A huge thank you to all of our Ag teachers and Ag students who put in countless hours to make this day such a success. Your hard work created memories and learning moments our students won’t forget. 🌟

What a fantastic day celebrating agriculture anducation! 🚜✨

🎄✨ A Season Full of Christmas Cheer! ✨🎄

Our students have been busy spreading holiday joy through all of our Christmas activities, programs, and events—and none of it would be possible without our amazing transportation team!

Through early mornings, long days, and packed schedules, our bus drivers have worked tirelessly to get our students to every event and back home safely. We are so thankful for their dedication, patience, and commitment to our kids during this busy season.

We thank all of our Transportation team!

Pictured below are Janette Warren and Bill Telfer getting ready to take second grade students to the movies today.
