The high school AVID classes went on a field trip to Texas A&M - San Antonio yesterday. They toured the campus and learned more about the academic programs, student life, and on-campus housing. Students were able to end the tour by enjoying the on-campus dining hall buffet! Thank you Ms Stockwell for sharing!

This week @ JISD

Our Phlebotomy students are in the process of completing their required venipunctures, and we’re so grateful for everyone who has volunteered so far. Each student needs 30 successful blood draws to earn their certification, and the staffs support is helping them gain the real-world experience they need.
A huge thank-you to our Superintendent, Dr. Tracy Canter, who recently volunteered to have her blood drawn — our students were thrilled and grateful for the opportunity!
Their skills and confidence continue to grow each week, and it’s been amazing to watch their progress.
Thank you to everyone who has helped and to those who are still planning to volunteer. We appreciate you so much!

Ms. Cook, Ms. Rankin, and Ms. Graybill’s third grade students recently hosted a publishing party to showcase their hard work in writing. Students authored informational essays explaining the importance of soil to our Earth. After publishing, they participated in a gallery walk, reading their peers’ essays and creating a “glows and grows” feedback list to support one another as developing writers. The celebration concluded with “dirt” pudding (chocolate pudding with Oreo crumbles) and soil/Earth themed temporary tattoos to tie in with their learning.

First Day Best Day! Check out these Health Science students in their RED scrubs at Methodist Atascosa here in Jourdanton. Mrs. Gutierrez BSN,RN is doing a phenomenal job with these students and we couldn't be more proud

Our Health Science Theory and Practicum/Phlebotomy classes had a guest speaker today:) The amazing Tina Lozano, who also happens to be a JHS graduate, shared her health science career journey with our students. Tina started out as a CNA, then was a Medical Assistant, Phlebotomist, LVN, RN, and is currently getting her masters to be a Nurse Practitioner! Her story is definitely inspiring! She also gave some very useful phlebotomy tips! We are so very grateful that she was willing to take time out of her day to help JISD students on their health science journey.

The Junior High Student Council stayed after school today to get ready for Veterans Day tomorrow!
Don't forget we have our Veterans Day program at the high school starting at 9am. We will be serving our Veterans Lunch tomorrow as well! See you tomorrow!
