Superintendent

On Wednesday, October 12th, the Jourdanton ISD Board of Trustees accepted the retirement of current Superintendent, Theresa McAllister effective December 31, 2022.  Ms. McAllister will be completing her seventh year as Superintendent and her twenty-seventh and a half year as an employee of JISD.  She was hired in 1995-1996 at the high school to teach Geometry and be the girls' head basketball coach.  On September 11, 2001, Ms. McAllister became the junior high assistant principal and for that year also coached the basketball team.  The following year she gave up the coaching position and remained the assistant principal for a total of four years.

In June of 2005, former Superintendent of JISD, Dr. Lana Collavo, hired Ms. McAllister as the Director of Technology and Instruction. Over the next ten years, Dr. Collavo and Ms. McAllister worked closely on many projects for the district.  In November of 2015, the 46-million-dollar bond was passed, Dr. Collavo retired and Ms. McAllister took over in January of 2016 as the Jourdanton ISD Superintendent.  For the next thirty months, Ms. McAllister led the district through the massive construction project to transform the district into the campus you see today.

Prior to her lengthy stay at Jourdanton, Ms. McAllister taught and coached in Lockhart and Brenham for a combined six years.  She is proud to say she graduated with a double major in Mathematics and Exercise Science from Schreiner College, all while playing college basketball for the Lady Mountaineers.  In 1998, while teaching and coaching at Jourdanton ISD, she received a Master of Education from Schreiner College in Kerrville and went on to complete her Superintendent certification from Texas A&M University, San Antonio.

When asked about her time at Jourdanton ISD, Ms. McAllister shared that words cannot describe the appreciation she has for the opportunities she was given in our district.  Administration, staff, students and the community members I have coached, taught and worked with throughout the time here are like no other.  She goes on to say, "The pride at JISD runs deep in the veins of so many current and former students, which makes me proud."

"As Superintendent, I hope I have made a difference and positive impact on the students at Jourdanton ISD.  When I walk away from this position, I will leave behind a great staff and leadership team to continue the success we have all worked so hard to achieve.  I am truly going to miss the students and staff at Jourdanton ISD!"

The Jourdanton ISD Board contracted with Walsh Gallegos Treviño Kyle & Robinson P.C. and Dr. Jeanette Winn Moczygemba to assist the Board with their search for a new Superintendent.  An important part of the search for a new Superintendent is to receive input from the community about what qualities and qualifications you would like to see in our next Superintendent.  Please click the link to fill out the survey.  https://forms.gle/ts1FDSGbcvST...
