OFFICIAL PRESS RELEASE

Jourdanton Independent School District
Friday, December 4, 2020
During the school board meeting held on November 9, 2020, it was decided to no longer offer
remote learning options at Jourdanton ISD during the second semester of the 2020-2021 school
year. So, effective at the end of the school day, December 18, 2020, remote learning will no
longer be available in the Jourdanton Independent School District. Our teachers and staff are
prepared to provide a robust and engaging on-campus learning experience, with safety as our
top priority. While we appreciate the support from parents during the pandemic, it is time to
return to a face to face learning format.
We have had more than fourteen weeks to implement COVID-19 mitigation practices in our
district and have done it effectively. Since August 17th, we have had fifteen confirmed COVID-19
student cases, and those students have recovered and returned to school. Safety practices will
continue in the district, with required masks, temperature checks, sanitizer availability and
social distancing where possible.
We understand that there are cases where serious health concerns are a reality in a few of our
households. If this applies to you, we will require you make an appointment with your child’s
campus principal to discuss your extenuating health circumstances. We are prepared to assist
parents seeking transfer options to districts which provide distance learning for transfer students.
In the event we have confirmed COVID-19 cases, those affected will be required to return to
virtual instruction for their quarantine period.
We understand that this may be a difficult decision for some parents; however, Jourdanton ISD
stands ready to resume to full-time, on-campus instruction. Please call your child’s campus
administrator if you have any questions.
Thank you for the support and understanding you have given us over the first semester as we
navigated a new era of education.
