Jourdanton Elementary Pre-K Family Engagement Plan
Family-to-family support: Jourdanton Elementary will facilitate family-to-family support using strategies using the Site Based Decision Making Committee, Title 1 Campus Meeting, Pre-Kindergarten Pre-Registration, Family Nights, and LPAC Committee meetings.
Community resources: We work to establish a broader network of community resources. We have an active partnership with our local area churches who provide supplies, clothing, and family resources. We also have a food backpack program at the high school campus that sends home backpacks with food items for weekends to families in need. Our elementary counselor works with families to find the mental health support that families need.
Family participation: We work to increase family participation in decision making. We include parents on the campus and district committees. We have back-to-school Meet the Teacher Night/ Open House nights. The Pre-K teachers communicate daily with parents through a two-way communication folder. There will be open dialog between parents through Remind app, Class Dojo, parent/teacher conferences.
Family resources: Classroom libraries will be available for daily check-out of English/Spanish books.Campus literacy and math nights will be hosted.Report cards will be sent home and campus parent/teacher conferences will be held.Parents will be provided with free apps that students can be accessed at home and school.There will be scheduled campus family activities (reading with grandparents, donuts with dad).College and career awareness days will be scheduled (with a Campus-wide career day) and PK make-and-take sessions.
Staff Skills: Trainings are provided through Region 20 education service center, Title-1 Parent Engagement Activities, and Circle Assessment.
Evaluation: Jourdanton Elementary Pre-K will evaluate family engagement efforts and use parent participation data and student performance data for continuous improvement.
