Interested seniors participated in a Zoom program review about TxFAME on Wednesday, March 17. TxFAME is an organization that provides two options for graduates to pursue training in Advanced Manufacturing. The first option is a 2-year program to earn an Associates Degree in AMT at St. Philips College. All tuition is paid for through company sponsorships. Students are assigned an internship with their sponsoring company where they work 3 days a week and earn wages. The other 2 days a week they attend classes. Upon completion, 98% of students obtain a position with a manufacturing company with an average pay of $24.00 / hour.
The second option is called TxFAST. This option is a 9 week, boot camp style training. Students meet 5 days a week from 8 - noon for skills training and when they complete the training they are provided assistance with job placement.
Student comments following the presentation included, "Well, this is a no-brainer." and "What are the steps I need to complete to sign up?!"
