JISD is Celebrating Healthy Texas Week!
April 29th - May 5th
Healthy Texas Week is an annual initiative of It’s Time Texas, a statewide nonprofit that champions the movement for a healthier state by making healthy lifestyles more accessible for all Texans. During this week-long celebration of healthy living, schools, businesses, families and individuals across the state are encouraged to SHOP for healthy items, SWEAT by getting active, and SHARE photos and videos of these activities on social media with the hashtag #HeathlyTexasWeek.
During this week at JISD we will be having several activities during the school day to promote eating healthy and being physically active. We are challenging all of our families to participate in our Family Fitness Challenge, where you do something active with your family each day that week. There is an Activity Log below that you can print, record your family’s activity for the week, and then return to the school by Monday, May 6th to be entered in a drawing for some awesome prizes! Some contributors to the prizes are Fun Time, Plestex Movie Theater, Crazy About Mangonadas, Lauren’s Deli, Joe’s Place and The Gypsy Moon Market. On the JISD website, under Health Services, you can also find some yummy recipes for healthy meals.
We will also be hosting the following family fitness activities after school:
Monday, April 29th- Dance in Jr High Gym, DJ by Bring It! Productions,
Food provided by Atascosa Dodge
Tuesday, April 30th – Flow Class in Jr High Gym, provided by The Gym
