"The world is a book, and those who do not travel read only one page."
-Saint Augustine
Have you ever heard the song, "I Hope You Dance" by Lee Ann Womack? Well, that is one of my favorite songs because it sums up how I feel about teaching and life in general. I want my students to get the most from their educational experience by actively participating in it. This is the start of my sixteenth year at Jourdanton Junior High School. I am a native of Jourdanton and graduated in 1979. I started my college education in Kingsville, TX, at what was then known as Texas A & I University. In 1990, I received my Bachelor's Degree in History and my certification for secondary education from UTSA. I became fascinated with how my students learned to read and write, so I did further studies and added certifications to teach English, Reading, and English as a Second Language to my degree. For the 2008-2009 school year, I will be teaching 7th and 8th grade Reading.
