Welcome to 6th grade English/Language Arts/Reading!
What I teach: 6th grade ELAR & 6th grade Advanced ELAR
What I sponsor: 6th grade UIL: Ready Writing, Modern Oratory, & Impromptu Speaking
Sixth grade ELAR involves in-depth reading comprehension, vocabulary studies, revising/editing, spelling, and written language structure from simple sentences to complex essays. Advanced ELAR involves these same skills while incorporating higher-level thinking and speaking projects.

Grading Policy: 60% Daily Work: Daily Activities, Spelling/Vocab Lessons, Proofreading, Notebook grade
40% Assessments: Quizzes, Spelling Tests, Vocabulary Tests
Major Assessments will count as two grades: Unit Tests, Projects, Essays
Please check your child's assignment book daily for reminders
and/or assignments to be completed. I will send out additional
reminders via the Remind App (password: faireng) about upcoming
tests, essays, and project due dates.
Daily assignments that are not completed when coming to class are considered
late and will be entered as a zero/missing assignment in the gradebook. Upon
completion, the assignment will receive the average of the zero and the new grade.
All daily assignments can be redone for the average of the old and new grades.
Tests and quizzes cannot be redone since we review these concepts repeatedly
in class and prior notification is given for each.
