4th 6-Week Calendar

Current Unit - Unit 9:  Similarity

In this lesson, students will explore properties of similar figures using their knowledge of previous lessons.  Students explore similarity using a variety of approaches that rely on concrete modeling, algebraic techniques, parallel lines and transversals, and dilations and scale factor.  The effect of scale factor on dimensions of similar figures is explored as well as its effect on perimeter and area.

Below are the Homework files for Unit 9:  Similarity

All Unit 9 work is due no later than

January 25 (a-day classes) and January 26 (b-day classes)

Properties of Similar Figures (#2-6)

Postulate/Theorems and Similar Triangles

Mistakes Can Be Costly!

All homework corrections are due the day of that units test.  No late work will be accepted after the unit tests..

Math Models

This week we are working on lessons 53, 54, 55, & 56.

On Tuesday we will explore linear equations and proportions.  Students will write equations of lines and use proportions in real world situations.

On Thursday we will study properties of direct variation and probability.  Students will apply the properties of variation and probability.

All work is due at the end of each class period.  There will be no exceptions.

We will be moving through the math models workbook in order and   we will stay on a lesson until it has been mastered.  Typically, we complete 1-2 lessons a class period.

In addition to the workbook study, we will be doing a real world simulation.  Each student will be assigned a career and a family.  They will be responsible for taking care of their new job, themselves and families.  Also, we will be looking a real world applications of the math that they are learning about.
