We are a Recognized Campus! Our students are doing well on TAKS tests and academics. I am excited about the new school year (my 24th year in education) ahead at Jourdanton High School. Having the responsibility of discipline, dress code enforcement, and cell phone monitoring will be challenging again this year, but the students know me and know how I enforce the Code of Conduct. My heart is with this district and helping students be the best they can be. It is, and has been, a great place to work. We have good people here. I look forward to seeing everyone around on campus, stop and say Hi!
Parents, just a reminder that driving students need to get a parking permit to be able to park their cars on campus. I will need a copy of their driver's license and their insurance also. Students need to be in dress code when they come to school, including their hair lengths and belts on their pants in the belt loops. I hope your summer days were filled with fun and relaxation and your students are ready to learn more exciting things in the new school year.
I finished my coursework for Principalship in the Spring of 2005 at Texas A&M University at Kingsville. I attended UTHSCSA and received my Masters' in Microbiology in 1996. My Bachelor's was from UTSA in 1986 with a Physical Education major and Biology minor. I guess you could say I'm a lifetime learner. I am considering work at Texas State for a doctorate in Education, but right now it is just an idea. Education to me is a must in our current society, and I hope to encourage our youth to do the best they can.
This school year, 2010-2011, we have a new class that will give seniors who can fit it into their schedules, time to write essays for college applications and complete college applications. We have a higher student enrollment this year so classes will be larger, but that is a good thing for our campus. We will have more student diversity and that is good for students. Teachers are excited about being back at school and getting into their classrooms. Extracurricular activities are already in full swing.
I encourage parents to come visit with us at Jourdanton High School and see the good things we do for students. Any questions you have we will do our best to answer. Come See Us!
