Hard work spotlights the character of people:  some turn up their sleeves, some turn up their noses, and some don't turn up at all.  ~Sam Ewing

The Indians are gearing up for another great season this school year.  Below you will find a tentative schedule of games for the 2009-2010 basketball season.  Game time and sites may change during the course of the year.  When this happens, the athletes will know in advance and we will post changes to this website.  Cancellations will be listed in red above the schedule and struckthrough within the schedule.  Time, date or venue changes will be highlighted in yellow.

We will again be participating in the Coaches vs. Cancer initiative this season.  See the information below as to how you can help the Indians and Squaws fight this deadly disease that has affected so many lives in our community.

Three Rivers games will be at 5 and 6:30 on February 16.

COACHES VS CANCER

This season, the Indians and Squaws have dedicated their efforts on the court to raising cancer awareness.  As part of that dedication, the basketball teams will be collecting money at home games to donate to the M.D. Anderson Cancer Research Center.  Many families throughout the community have made the trip to Houston to obtain help from this world-class cancer research center and the teams feel that the money they raise will be well-spent at such a facility.  Information regarding M.D. Anderson will be available at home games and can be gathered by visiting the M.D. Anderson website at http://www.mdanderson.org/.

JHS BASKETBALL CAMPS:  June 7 - June 10

The Indians and Squaws will be hosting their summer basketball camps the second week of June.  Campers will be receiving instruction from the Jourdanton coaching staff and former Indians and Squaws.  Campers going into grades Kinder through 8th grade are welcome.  Click the link below to download the camp brochure and registration form.

YOU KNOW YOU'RE A JOURDANTON INDIAN WHEN...
• You understand that basketball is a team sport.
• You will exchange your blood, sweat, and tears for the benefit of the team.
• You understand the irrelevance of individual awards.
• You understand your commitment to your teammates.
• You have a desire to excel for the benefit of those relying on you.
• You serve your teammates with unselfish motives.
• You have an unquenchable need to exceed your past limitations.
• You play and know, without a doubt, that you competed like a champion.
• You would rather encourage a teammate to success than benefit personally from his mistakes.
• You make mistakes and use them to improve instead of using them as excuses.
• Your ability to make your teammates better increases each time you play.
• You do the little things right when nobody is watching.
• You understand your role and strive to perform it better.
• You have done all you can and still feel you haven't done enough.
• You play with pain without creating a scene.
• You give more than what is asked and take less than what is deserved.
• You think you can, and you do.
