Howdy y'all!
I'm thrilled to begin my 10th year here at Jourdanton, and my 8th year as a third grade teacher. My first two years here I was an elementary and jr. high P.E. coach, and girls 7th and 8th grade athletic coach. After having my second child, Averie, I decided to hang up my coach's whistle and pick up a red pen and grade book. I was very apprehensive at first about becoming a third grade teacher, but it has been a perfect fit and I'm so thankful for still being here.
How did I get here you ask?
Well, let me start at the beginning. . .
I was born in Hobbs, New Mexico and lived there until I completed 5th grade. That summer my father was transferred to the small west Texas town of Monahans. I remained there through high school graduation, and after several universities I finally graduated college from Angelo State. While attending ASU I married Rick Villarreal, and we had our first daughter, Reighlea, who is now in the 6th grade. When she was two, Rick and I moved our family to Jourdanton because we were both hired as coaches. As I mentioned earlier, I coached for two years until I had Averie, who is now in the second grade.
In my free time (yeah right) I love spending time with the family and friends that God has blessed me with. I also enjoy watching movies, reading Christian fiction novels, sewing, and attending church.
So, I hope that has answered your question about why my family and I now call Jourdanton home.
