Wild about P.E.

Welcome to Elementary Physical Education !!!
I am so excited about the upcoming 2009-2010 school year. The
great success we had last year with our programs in P.E. has
everyone talking about our school. Last year we implemented
the Presidents Challenge to our 5th graders and had an amazing 78%
of the students receiving either the National Standard or
Presidential Standard award. We were also recognized by the
AMERICAN HEART ASSOCIATION as being the TOP fundraising school in
the South Texas Region for Jump Rope for Heart. We had
visitors all year talking to our kids about the importance of
physical fitness and got a special performance from former Olympic
Gold Medalist, former World Champion Jump roper Jill
Strong.
A little bit about myself: I graduated from Texas A&M University Kingsville in 2004 with a bachelors degree in Kinesiology. I am certified to teach Health and P.E. for all grade levels. This is my 5th year in Jourdanton and can't believe how time flies when you're having so much fun. I get the privilege of working with students throughout their years at J.I.S.D., I also assist with Jr. High Athletics and P.E.. Finally when they make their way to High School, I see the students who are involved in the sports that I coach. I am an assistant varsity football coach, girls power lifting coach and assistant softball coach. I also coach kids who participate in our Summer Track Program called the J-Town Jackrabbits. This year we had students from grades 1-11 that participated in our summer track program and had 10 athletes qualify for the Amateur Athletic Union National Track Meet that was held in Detroit Michigan. Basically, I am everywhere!!!
