Welcome to Jourdanton Elementary - a TEA Recognized School
Mrs. Michele Hartung, Principal
October 12, 2010
We are excited about the new school year at Jourdanton Elementary where
Learning IS NOT a Spectator Sport!
I am Michele Hartung. This is the start of my 12th year with Jourdanton ISD and my tenth year as Elementary Principal. I commute to Jourdanton from Hondo where I live with my husband, Bobby and my daughters, Cassandra, who is a Medical Assistant and Devan, a senior at Hondo HS. In 1985, after earning my Bachelor of Science degree from UTSA, I began my career in education as a physical education teacher and coach with Hondo ISD. I returned to UTSA and earned a Master of Arts degree with a mid management certificate in 1998. I was fortunate to be given the opportunity by Jourdanton ISD to enter into school administration in 1999-2000 as the Jourdanton Jr. High Assistant Principal. Working in the Jourdanton ISD continues to be a rewarding experience for me. I truly enjoy my job and it is worth every mile of the drive! I am and will always be a "small town girl" at heart.
I enjoy the outdoors, swimming, reading, working in my yard - just being active. We have a Welsh Corgi dog named Lucy. Bobby and I have cattle on our ranch north of Hondo where we love to go to "get away from it all". I love sports and I am a Texas Longhorn fan, GO HORNS GO!
Jourdanton Elementary has achieved a "Recognized" rating from the state 5 times in my tenure, 2003-04 and the last four years - 2006-07, 2007-08, 2008-09 and 2009-10. I have an incredible faculty and staff who are fully committed to our students and their success. I appreciate the opportunity to work with all of them and your children!
