Jr. High and Elementary Receive Award
January 28, 2010
The National Center for Educational Achievement's (NCEA) Just for the Kids Campaign releases this year's Higher Performing School lists. Controlling for student demographics, NCEA identifies schools whose students consistently achieved more academic growth, based on the TAKS.
On January 19th, Jourdanton Jr. High Principal, Robert Rutkowski and Jourdanton Elementary Principal, Michele Hartung attended the awards ceremony in Austin at Bowie High School. Also attending the ceremony were Lana Collavo, Superintendent and Theresa McAllister, Director of Instruction and Technology. State Senator Florence Shapiro addressed the audience and passed out the awards. Mr. Rutkowski received the award on behalf of the Jr. High for their achievement on the 7th Grade Writing TAKS scores, while Mrs. Hartung received the award for the Elementary 4th Grade Writing TAKS scores.
Congratulations to the staff, students and administrators at Jourdanton Jr. High and Elementary for a job well done.
